Tonight promises to be a terrifically bad Monday Night Football game that only people in two minor markets care about (TV exec: "I have an idea, let's find the two most environmentally unfortunate major cities in America and put them on--a kind of Bhopal vs. Chernobyl"). But before we get into all that, we should pause briefly and consider another environmental mistake--the common ground squirrel.

And before we do that, please watch:

It's pretty hard to make this kind of stuff up!

All over the place, there are ex-wealthy bankers throwing themselves in front of trains when they should be placing themselves on a self-sufficiency regimen. Who needs money when you've got nature's bountiful harvest right outside your back door?

The squirrels were out in full force yesterday stealing just about every shred of pride the WobblyTop ever had--whether it was ridiculous goal line stands (no less than 3) by the Denver and Atlanta defenses, or timely interceptions (twice inside the 20 yard line) by the Redskins. It was a dismal effort and aside from the Niners, we were way, way off and stand 3 for 9 on the year.

But like the aggressive squirrel, you live to hunt another day, and tonight offers a televised opportunity to test your wits. Incidentally, don't fall for the cute bushy tail of the seemingly tame park squirrel (sciurus)--up to 10% of squirrels are omnivorous and have been known to eat everything from small chickens to snakes and birds. How long before they wake up, realize they're in a global financial crisis and start eating human babies?

And they wonder why we hunt them!

Buffalo -5
Over/under 41
Ralph Wilson Stadium (Buffalo) 26 degrees with snow showers

This comes down to one question:

How bad is Cleveland?

They currently stand 3-6 having undergone QB changes and two recent come from behind losses to Denver and Baltimore. Not unlike Seattle, they were many people's surprise team after a 2007 season that saw them close strongly and finish at 8-8.

They have played arguably the toughest schedule with two games against the Ravens, Giants(victory), Jacksonville and the Broncos. They have decent weapons at wide receiver and they have scored over 20 points a game in each of their last three games.

Buffalo, on the other hand is struggling, especially on offense, where they rank 24th in the league. They have lost 3 straight and tonight's game is a make or break victory for them.

With snow in the forecast, this is a really difficult game to predict, but Buffalo's superior defense and running game should see them through.

Wait until as close to game time as you can. 41 points is awful low for a game involving the Browns, so we'd play the weather:

Snowing--under 41
Not snowing--Brady Quinn to the rescue and play the over.

If you must play the spread, take Cleveland and the points, but caveat emptor.

Go Stuff!
