Don't look now, but America's prisons are engaged in a crazed bidding war for the services of one Plaxico Burress who faces up to 3 years on the weapons charges and the ensuing failed cover-up. We'd humbly suggest that Angola(LA) step up as they already have an active league in place.
And think who they could have! Michael Vick at QB, Plaxico at wideout and let's not forget the starting tailback, O.J. Simpson (unless of course, Angola manages a transfer for Lawrence Phillips!). There's also Rae Carruth out there on waivers as well. (That's what you get for putting a hit out on your pregnant girlfriend!)
Which makes us wonder.... Why prison for shooting yourself? Doesn't that seem a little harsh--as in--shooting yourself might be punishment enough?
Apparently not for NYC Mayor and newly revealed Jets fan Michael Bloomberg:
“It would be an outrage if we didn’t prosecute to the fullest extent of the law particularly people who live in the public domain, and make their living because of the visibility,” said the mayor, the founder and majority owner of Bloomberg News parent Bloomberg LP.
Some people will do anything to relive 1967......like burying the best receiver on the best team in football behind bars.
Speaking of the Jets, what a performance at home vs. the shitty Denver Broncos. After the failed end-around, it all went down hill. We called the over, but were way off on the Jets to cover.
While on the topic of failure, we also missed the resurgent Steelers delivering an embarassing beatdown of the Patriots and cruising right through the over.
And we missed the Colts and the over, though we're still struggling to see how Cleveland can stay close to anyone!
Finally, we ended the weekend on a high note--nailing both the Vikings and the over. Watch out for the Vikings who are emerging as the team to beat in the NFC Central.
Today is as light as it gets. We're looking to the NBA and that trainwreck of a team, the New York Knicks for inspiration. They are at home against the surprisingly good Portland Trailblazers. They're coming off a dominating road win of the Pistons and we suspect they won't be letting up.
Take the Blazers and give the 6.5 points
Sorry for the missed day, but continued employment is critical for us in these tuff' economic times.
Happy Hunting!
